3D Cell Construction

3D Cell Construction

This construction was one of my early academic projects. We had to construct a composition using a repetitive pattern cell. Following is an reproduction of this executed structure through Autocad.

The project had to be executed manually therefore I used basic straight shapes in order to have all 48 cells accurate. The cell was used as single or in combination of two and three on top of each other to reach an alternative shape and an interesting composition.

Through a quick look one can get the impression that the cells are placed randomly which it is not true. The structure has started through a group randomly organized/formed of couple of cells, later on this group has been rotated and flipped throughout the area. What started as an asymmetric placements turned out to be a perfect pattern that can extend to fill an infinite area through a repetitive cells.
